A little more about who we are and what we do
		The founder of the shop is Mike McGowan who started out as a mobile jock and progressed to clubs with a little bit of pirate radio along the way. Mike has always had DJ's working with him and has found over the years that it is a perfect partnership. Soundz sells all sorts of dance music but unlike big cities in and around the UK Torquay leans mostly towards House Music. These days the best sellers are all types of house including Hard House and Nu-Nrg, Progressive, Trance both clubby and harder etc, with a little bit of Garage for the devoted. Soundz also stocks a great selection of Drum & Bass all the best of 2 Step and a liberal sprinkling of Techno.
		Since he started mike has seen lots of changes to the music scene but through it all he has stayed true to himself and stayed with his love of all things funky, and established 5 years ago "Kinda Funky" a dance night at claires on a Saturday playing R&B, Acid Jazz, Garage, Beats and a bit of Disco for good measure. He is now very proud of the fact that "Kinda Funky" was voted 3rd best R&B night in the UK by Blues and Soul in there '99 awards, and when he plays host to the kind of DJ's like Trevor Nelson, Simon "schoolboy" Phillips, DJ Bigger etc he knows that 5 years ago when he took the risk it paid off.
		Then along came Ben (Mikes son) brought up with music that at age 11 he had to have decks so becoming a bedroom mixer with tunes that most DJ's twice his age would probably kill for and it wasn't long before mike gave in and took Ben along to his first gig at the age of 16 (underage of course) at a club in Torquay where he did his first guest spot. He has never looked back and over the years his love has been Progressive House but being Mike's son his love of music goes right across the board and his love of all house music led to the start of "Full Tilt". Over the years versatility has been one of Ben's trade marks and has been seen playing House, Garage, Old Skool, and even stepping in for Mike at Kinda Funky with R&B, Hip Hop, 2 Step, and Garage which keeps him resident at Claires on both the nights, and also led to him making Guest appearances far and wide. Apart from the dj'ing Ben also does most of the house music buying for soundz and you can often find him selling his tunes to all the jocks from far and near.
		Gooey the other full time guy at soundz is the Drum & Bass expert, with a mind like a walking catalogue for all forms of music and a real long time passion for D&B and a collection to prove it. He has had a long-term relationship with all the local D&B boys including his friends at cadence and once DJ partner Worm (aka Aural Imbalance watch out for his new stuff…. awesome) Although Devon hasn't got a huge drum & bass scene Gooey continues to maintain only the highest standards and has been involved in nights at Claires playing host to LTJ Bukem, Fabio, Peshay and many more.
		Our Techno expert is Simon better known as "DJ Scorpio" and although Simon isn't in Soundz as much these days, mostly due to a heavy Dj Schedule (you can catch him all over the country playing all the major events), he still takes a very active role in the techno orders for soundz.
